Uprise feat. Jasmine Isabel
After graduating art school at 21 years old, I got a 9-5 job and minimized by photography and creativity. Yesterdays shoot with Jasmine was a great breather and to be honest a bit nostalgic but delightful nonetheless. I hadn’t taken a full day photo adventure trip since college, especially on a Monday… I forgot how fun they were. Jasmine is 21 years old and trying to live out her creative passions, and let me tell you she will. I love being around people and listening to their thoughts and their goals, this is where the nostalgia of feeling old kicked in. It was an ugly feeling of remorse for letting some years go by without making images, but I had to let go of that feeling and realize that age/years don’t matter. There’s a lot of social brainwashing of how we should live our lives and be successful and whatever time you can break through some of those brainwashes go for it. Uprise from what we were taught and do what you want.
We drove around San Pedro trying to find some abandonment, ending up at the sunken city. We followed some people and found the entrance, a fucken scary entrance with a pretty gnarly view straight to the bottom. The sun was setting, the lighting was naturally perfect and we took advantage of that. Jasmine is adventuress, which made this shooting session a lot of fun.
